Exploration in to International Children's Digital Library: What is it store for you?

I wish to share with you all the amazing digital library for e-books, when we are missing our visit to our library and reading the literature of our choice, but in the 21st century learning  environment, we can access our favorite books any time with just the click of the mouse. You can refresh yourself after studying hard and read at your own pace. So don't feel disappointed

for closed gates of physical libraries. Now so much is available in the virtual space also. 

The mission of the International Children's Digital Library Foundation (ICDL Foundation) is to support the world's children in becoming effective members of the global community - who exhibit tolerance and respect for diverse cultures, languages and ideas -- by making the best in children's literature available online free of charge.

 The Foundation pursues its vision by building a digital library of outstanding children's books from around the world and supporting communities of children and adults in exploring and using this literature through innovative technology designed in close partnership with children for children. 

A fundamental principle of the Foundation is that children and their families deserve to have access to the books of their culture, as well as the majority culture, regardless of where they live. According to a paper published in 2005 by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in preparation for the second meeting on the World Summit on the Information Society, "Denial to access to information in one's mother tongue is equivalent to a denial of a human right." The report also concludes, "In terms of pedagogy, how do children learn best?  In their mother tongue." It has vast collection in different languages which has international scope.

The ICDL is a rich resource which can be used in a wonderfully wide range of situations by children, parents, teachers, librarians and others from all walks of life.  Children can expand upon the stories to create games; parents can extract themes to help explain important lessons; teachers can utilize the multicultural nature of the collection to teach languages; librarians can enrich community outreach programs with tales from around the world and; of course, anyone can just open a book to read for pleasure.

This digital library provides the very easy and effective search interface, where you can very easily search the books of your choice and also as per your age. You must try to explore this and enjoy the world of literature at your home. 

The simplest way to use the ICDL is to just read a book.  Pick one of the featured books from the home page, search books using Simple Search – or the Advanced Search or Location Search at the bottom of the Simple Search page.  Then read away – for free and anonymously.  Or you can create an account to keep a bookshelf of books you like and set various personal preferences.
